Many international students study at the school because of its excellent educational reputation, its coeducational learning environment and its excellent results in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, as well as the NSW Higher School Certificate.

Relocations

The current school population of approximately 1700 students spans Early Childhood to Year 12. Approximately 86% are local students and 14% originate from overseas. Over 30 countries of birth are represented in the total school population.

We welcome children of expatriates on assignment in Sydney. The average enrolment period for these students is between two and five years.

Student Visas

91Ô¼ÅÚ is registered with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS Provider Code 00713M) to enrol a limited number of students on student visas for study; such study is predominantly in the Secondary SchoolÌýalthough we also offer the following courses:

Student Welfare/
Accommodation

As 91Ô¼ÅÚ is a day school only, students relocating to Sydney are expected to live with at least one parent who is responsible for all matters relating to the student’s accommodation and welfare. 91Ô¼ÅÚ does not provide a Confirmation of Appropriate Accommodation/Welfare Arrangements (CAAW) letter for students. We also do not accept students living in Homestay accommodation.

The School monitors the living arrangements of full fee paying overseas students who live in Sydney with at least one parent as follows:

  • Details must be provided and approved by the School at least 14 days prior to the parent(s) being absent from Sydney while the student is studying at the School, so that the School is aware of how the student is being cared for in the absence of their parents
  • If any concerns are raised regarding the accommodation or welfare of the student, through day to day monitoring of the student or through any other credible source, the Deputy Principal will investigate the student’s accommodation and welfare arrangements to ensure that these are suitable. This may include an interview with the student, the parent(s) and a home visit. If this investigation identifies the need for intervention, this will be implemented.

English Language
Proficiency

All classes are held in English and, as such, students must have a suitable English speaking and comprehension level. If a student does not have a satisfactory level of English proficiency, they will not be able to meet the demands of the curriculum.

Students with limited English skills are required to undertake an independent language assessment to assess their readiness for enrolment at 91Ô¼ÅÚ with or . Some students may be required to attend an Intensive English Language Course with an external provider such as the priorÌýto application. 91Ô¼ÅÚ requires at least Upper Intermediate Standard English for Secondary School.

Allocation of
Places

The school does not hold specific positions open for international enrolments; however every effort will be made to assist families where possible. Positions will be allocated in advance of the family relocating to Sydney if available.

Once a place has been confirmed for an overseas student, the School will apply to PRISMS (Provider Registration and International Student Management System), to prepare a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE). The system also facilitates the monitoring of student compliance with visa conditions, as well as the School’s compliance with the Education Services for Overseas Students Act (ESOS). 91Ô¼ÅÚ will notify the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) which handles all applications for Student Visas.

The Australian school year commences in late January and concludes in early December. There are four school terms of approximately 10 weeks. Depending on the country of origin, age and academic background of each transferring international student a recommendation will be given as to the most suitable academic group whilst attending 91Ô¼ÅÚ.

Fees

In addition to the Termly Fees, students who are not Australian residents and are classified as Full Fee-Paying Overseas Students (FFPOS) are required to pay the following fees prior to their commencement at 91Ô¼ÅÚ:

  • A non-refundable Application Fee of $300.
  • A non-refundable Enrolment Fee of $4,000 or $2,000 for the second or any subsequent children from the same family.
  • A Term’s Tuition Fee in advance. This is held to pay for the student’s final Term’s Tuition Fee at the School (at which time the parent will be required to pay the difference between the final Term’s Fees and this amount).
  • An additional non-refundable International Enrolment Fee of $5,250 is applicable to the first child enrolled. Siblings concurrently enrolled are charged $1,850 per child.

A ‘once off’ levy of $1,251 is imposed by the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) on FFPOS who are candidates for the Higher School Certificate (HSC). This item is added to Term 3 statements for Year 12 students, and is not included in the Tuition Fees. Please note that this Fee may be subject to change by NESA.

Health Insurance

It is a condition of the Student Visa that international students have private health insurance for the duration of their stay in Australia. 91Ô¼ÅÚ can arrange Overseas Student Health Care Cover (OSHC) for the duration of a student’s study with Medibank Private Health Insurance which is 91Ô¼ÅÚ’ preferred provider. In the event of early withdrawal from the nominated course of study, the responsibility in seeking a refund from the Health Insurer lies with the student’s family.

Academic Standards

All students at 91Ô¼ÅÚ follow NESA courses of study from Kindergarten to Year 10. Students have a choice of NESA HSC or International Baccalaureate (IB) programs in Years 11 and 12. For successful completion of each year level students must show sufficient evidence that they have:

(a) applied themselves with diligence and sustained effort to all tasks and learning experiences provided by the school

(b) achieved the course outcomes to a satisfactory level and completed the course within the specified duration of the student’s CoE (visa condition 8202). Should a student fail to apply themselves with diligence and sustained effort to the tasks and experiences set for each course by the School (regardless of whether or not these tasks contribute to the final Assessment mark,) and not achieve some or all of the course outcomes – the student is at risk of receiving an ‘N’ (Non-completion determination).

(c) met the 80% attendance requirements (visa condition 8202)

Non-Compliance to Academic Standards

If a student is not making satisfactory progress, the class teacher will liaise with the student’s Year Advisor and manage accordingly, arranging academic or other support as required. If problems persist, the Deputy Principal will contact parents advising them that their child is failing to make adequate progress. If the student’s academic performance does not improve sufficiently within the time set by the School (usually across the next term), 91Ô¼ÅÚ will advise the student in writing of its intention to report the student for breach of Visa condition 8202. At that stage the student will have 20 working days in which to lodge a complaint to the School. If the School’s determination is upheld following review, 91Ô¼ÅÚ will complete the PRISMS notification.

It should be noted by intending applicants that as a registered provider, 91Ô¼ÅÚ is obliged to provide specific non-compliance exception reports to the Department within 14 days of their occurrence.

School PoliciesÌý

As a condition of enrolment, students must abide by all School policies and codes of behaviour for the duration of their enrolment. These include policies in relation to discipline, attendance, homework, and bullying and are available on the Parent Portal, 91Ô¼ÅÚ Pulse, and also in the Student Planner.

Transfer of Students From Another Education Provider

From 1 January 2018, school students who want to change to 91Ô¼ÅÚ before finishing the first six months of their first school course, must seek a letter of release from their original education institution to transfer. Six months after they start their first school course, they can change to 91Ô¼ÅÚ without asking the original education institution for approval. Students transferring from another Australian provider should supply membership details of their Overseas Student Health Cover and expiry date.

Withdrawal and Cancellation

  • Where fees in lieu of notice are to be charged in respect of an Overseas Student withdrawing with insufficient notice, they will be charged at the FFPOS tuition fee rate
  • Where the visa status of an Overseas Student changes to a temporary or permanent resident, Tuition fees will continue to be levied at the FFPOS rate until the date the visa status change becomes active. Parents undertake to advise 91Ô¼ÅÚ within 7 days of receipt of any such change in status
  • In addition to the Conditions of Enrolment, there will be no refund of Fees for an Overseas Students where enrolment is cancelled for the following reasons: – Failure to maintain satisfactory course progress (Visa condition 8202) – Failure to maintain satisfactory attendance (Visa condition 8202)

Refund Policy

  • Application and Enrolment fees paid are non-refundable and are payable in Australian Dollars
  • All approved refunds will be reimbursed to the person who enters into the written agreement with 91Ô¼ÅÚ and will be paid in Australian Dollars
  • If a visa application is refused by DHA such that the Overseas Student cannot undertake the course, 91Ô¼ÅÚ will refund any unspent tuition fees, calculated in accordance with the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act), where evidence of the refusal by the relevant authorities is provided
  • If the Overseas Student does not start the course on the agreed day and adequate written notice is received, unspent tuition fees will be refunded within four weeks of written notice
  • If the Overseas Student cannot start the course on the agreed day, and adequate written notice is received, or cannot continue in the course as 91Ô¼ÅÚ cannot offer or continue the course, all unspent tuition fees will be refunded within four weeks
  • Requests for a refund under this policy should, in the first instance, be advised to the Enrolments Office together with all relevant details and supporting evidence The Enrolments Office will advise Accounts of any refunds approved for payment
  • In the event 91Ô¼ÅÚ is unable to deliver an agreed alternative course, or a refund, the Overseas Student can seek assistance from the Australian government’s Tuition Protection Service (TPS).

Application
Process

If you are interested in applying for a place for your child at 91Ô¼ÅÚ, a guided tour of the School is recommended and can be booked online. Personal tours can also be organised for overseas families.

Places at 91Ô¼ÅÚ are in high demand and to ensure the school can support future students, entry into 91Ô¼ÅÚ is dependent on:

  • 2 recent school reports (in English)
  • 2 recent school references (available from the Enrolments Office)
  • Student and Parent Questionnaire (available from the Enrolments Office)
  • Immunisation Certificate
  • AEAS Assessment
  • Visa documentation and the expected length of stay in Sydney
  • A list of current subjects
  • A review of all the above documentation by the School
  • Completed Application Form and Fee following a positive review

If a place is available 91Ô¼ÅÚ will then invite the student and parents for interview prior to a possible offer of place.
